Our guide will pick you up from your hotel and, on the way up to Rifugio Sapienza (1920 mamsl), you will stop to admire the landscape from some vista points. You will receive all the information you need about the history and the features of the volcano and visit the sites of the last eruptions and the old Silvestri Craters.

From Rifugio Sapienza you will be able to choose if you wish to continue by doing some trekking in one of the nature paths of “Parco dell’Etna”, up to 2000 m, or if you wish to do the Etna high altitude option. If you choose this option you will take the cable car and a special 4x4 minibuses to arrive at Torre del Filosofo (2900 meters).

You will then explore a lava cave with helmets and torches.

The excursion will end by visiting one of the best wineries of the area, where you will sample one glass of sparkling wine and four glasses of local wines, with cold cuts, cheese, pate and olive oil produced locally.

Sicily has always had an extraordinary food and wine culture, and this wine tour aims to give you a full understanding of what this fertile land has to offer.

Travel in a comfortable minivan from Taormina through the rocky landscape of Etna to visit three different wineries on the slopes of the volcano, we will tell stories of those men who have passionately worked to make Sicily an internationally renowned wine region.  

A professional sommelier will bring you through the specific characteristics of the terroir and the effects that the Mediterranean sea and climate have on the cultivation of the vines. You will learn all about the wine making process, from the harvesting of the grapes to the bottling and aging of the wine.

We start the tour by visiting a beautiful winery extending from 650 to 850 meters above sea level. You will have the chance to admire the terraces where the vineyards grow, see the elements of old and modern wine production and taste a 100% Chardonnay Classic and a vinified Nerello Mascalese.

The second stop will be at an internationally renowned boutique winery. Here you can admire the vines growing on the the dark volcanic field that gives the grapes the unforgettable color and taste that make Etna Doc famous worldwide. 
In a beautiful panoramic spot you will taste one of the most important Etna Doc red and white wines, paired with a local olive oil. 

The tour will conclude with a visit to a small antique winery, located at a private villa, where you can enjoy a walk around some rare examples of vines that are over 80 years old. The charming cellar represents an intimate timeless environment where a selection of great and authentic Etna Doc wines rest. 
Our sommelier will offer you 2 wines to taste. Thanks to its aged plants the wines have distinctively intense and spicy notes. 

A home made lunch will be served in the relaxing garden by the family owning this exclusive winery.

He will share with you the history and the secrets of local wines, the grape varieties, the fermentation and the production processes.
